Alabama Lawyers For Harris Walz

With 30 days to go in the election, the impetus for trying to organize an Alabama Lawyers For Harris Walz group is to try to catalyze activities in support of the mission of the American Bar Association Task Force For American Democracy.

The Task Force https://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_interest/election_law/american-democracy/ was created in August 2023, spent a year at its work, and issued an August 2024 Report, which can be found at Task Force for American Democracy (americanbar.org).

The activities which are sought to be catalyzed include Alabama lawyers (i) reading the August 2024 report, (ii) having conversations among themselves about the Report, (iii) communicating to non-lawyers about the Report such as to the Alabama business community, (iv) ttrying to inform the Alabama public about the Report including by reaching out to Alabama TV stations and other  media and (v) communicating to lawyers in other states.

If there are Alabama lawyers who are moved to form an Alabama Lawyers For Trump Vance group, that would likely help in generating the desired conversations.

If other Alabama lawyers are moved to try to participate in the desired conversations in neutral way, as was originally solicited of the Alabama legal profession but for which no receptivity was found per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Interim Alabama report to ABA Task Force for American Democracy (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)), that too would be great.

Subject: Keeping the bullets from flying: Holding Trump legally and politically accountable
Dear Alabama Republican Party and Alabama Democratic Party:
Yesterday Trump posted on his Truth Social the following:
The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust. Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse! Allowing millions of people, from places unknown, to INVADE and take over our Country, is an unpardonable sin. OUR BORDERS MUST BE CLOSED, AND THE TERRORISTS, CRIMINALS, AND MENTALLY INSANE, IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM AMERICAN CITIES AND TOWNS, DEPORTED BACK TO THEIR COUNTIES OF ORIGIN. WE WANT PEOPLE TO COME INTO OUR COUNTRY, BUT THEY MUST LOVE OUR NATION, AND COME IN LEGALLY AND THROUGH A SYSTEM OF MERIT. THE WORLD IS LAUGHING AT US AS FOOLS, THEY ARE STEALING OUR JOBS AND OUR WEALTH. WE CANNOT LET THEM LAUGH ANY LONGER. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/113148118321131590
I believe that Trump criminally endeavored to prevent the lawfully elected President, Joe Biden, from taking office on January 20, 2021, for which criminal endeavor Trump should be held legally and politically accountable. Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Did Donald Trump engage in insurrection on Jan. 6th? (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)
Please provide to Alabama TV stations that are copied on this email, statements from your political parties concerning how your political parties have (or have not) dedicated themselves to the rule of law to try to keep the bullets from flying, as Trump refers to.
I will ask the Alabama legal profession the same question in due course. See Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Interim Alabama report to ABA Task Force for American Democracy (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).

Dear Alabama lawyers,
Yesterday I sent the below email to the Alabama Republican and Democratic parties, asking them to provide to Alabama TV stations statements from their political parties concerning how their political parties have (or have not) dedicated themselves to the rule of law to try to keep the bullets from flying, as Trump refers to in his Truth Social post on Monday that is quoted in the below email.
More than a year has gone by since the American Bar Association called on lawyers to
"(i) bolster voter confidence in elections by safeguarding the integrity and non-partisan administration of elections, and by providing support for election workers and officials; (ii) educate Americans on democracy and the rule of law and why they are foundational to every aspect of American lives; and (iii) suggest ideas to the American people for improving and strengthening our democracy and our elections." https://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_interest/election_law/american-democracy//our-work/
I am copying the Alabama TV stations on this email that I copied on the below email, in the hopes that representatives of the Alabama legal profession will tell the TV stations what Alabama lawyers have done and are doing to put forth the rule of law to keep the bullets from flying.
Thanks.

Lara Trump and Alabamians' voting decisions

Subject: Lara Trump ("Trump good; Harris evil') and Alabamians' voting decisions
Dear Alabama Republican Party and Alabama Democratic Party:
Friday night at ALGOP's summer dinner, Republican National Committee co-chair and Trump daughter-in law Lara Trump said:
"I really do believe that this is not a time that is even about Republican versus Democrat or left versus right. Right now, it is good versus evil in this country. We've all seen it. We all feel it. And things are at a different level right now, a spiritual level. And I always say Donald Trump was made for such a time as this." Lara Trump to ALGOP: Election not about Republican versus Democrat or left versus right — 'It is good versus evil in this country' (1819news.com)
This casting of the election as "Trump good' and "Harris evil" would seem headed to be core Trump campaign messaging during the remainder of his campaign.
If that is the case, Alabamians should be aware of the same.
Many Alabamians may already think and believe "Trump good; Harris evil."
If "Trump good; Harris evil" is central Trump campaign messaging during the remainder of Trump's campaign, that will solidify and augment the believing of Alabamians about "Trump good; Harris evil."
Some Alabamians, whether they are for Trump or Harris, may think Trump's "Trump good; Harris evil" campaign messaging is bad for the country, and such Alabamians may publicly say so.
I, for one, say Trump's "Trump good; Harris evil" campaign messaging is bad for the country.
The purpose of this email is to get the Alabama Republican Party on the record either that they agree with Trump's "Trump good; Harris evil" campaign messaging, or that they disavow such "Trump good; Harris evil" campaign messaging.
Alabama TV stations are copied on this email for whatever investigation and reporting to their viewers the TV stations may choose to do about Trump's "Trump good; Harris evil" campaign messaging.

Elizabeth Anderson against Gary Palmer

Per Harris For Alabama: Purpose; methods (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com), this blog entry gives links to work I have previously done related to Elizabeth Anderson against Gary Palmer in the 6th Congressional district election. My work is for consideration by other Alabamians possibly to do similarly in their campaigning for Kamala Harris, to make suggestions to me, and/or to come up with their own ideas for campaigning for Kamala Harris related to  Elizabeth Anderson against Gary Palmer the 6nd Congressional district election.

Subject: Capitol Journal's coverage of BCA Governmental Affairs Conference
Dear BCA Directors of Governmental Affairs Caroline Franklin and William Newman:
Since sending you my August 14th email (appended below) that was prompted by the Yellowhammer News article Alabama's federal lawmakers connect infrastructure as key to economic growth at BCA conference - Yellowhammer News, I have watched Todd Stacy's Capitol Journal show about the BCA conference (posted at Capitol Journal - August 16, 2024 (youtube.com)).
I think Todd's Capitol Journal show can help my objective of Alabamians being better informed about the economy and inflation so they can vote more intelligently in the 2024 election.
Anchors and reporters at Alabama TV stations should watch Todd's show to learn what Alabama's business and political leaders talked about at the conference for making Alabama and the Alabama economy better for Alabamians, the prime subjects being Alabama work force development (including education and childcare) and Alabama infrastructure (including state and local funding and public/private partnerships).
The Alabama TV anchors and reporters will learn little or nothing was said about what the United States Presidential candidates are saying about the economy or about what the Presidential candidates say they will do or try to do regarding the economy, and little or nothing was said about how the same bears on (or not) and affects (or not) what Alabama's business and political leaders talked about at the conference for making Alabama and the Alabama economy better for Alabamians.
I wish to continue to call on the Business Council of Alabama, Alabama TV stations and Alabama economics professors to think up how they can, in the next 80 days, contribute to Alabamians being better informed about the economy and inflation, so they can vote more intelligently in the 2024 election.
Thank you (and I very much hope something will be undertaken).
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: Alabama’s federal lawmakers connect infrastructure as key to economic growth at BCA conference
Dear BCA Directors of Governmental Affairs Caroline Franklin and William Newman:
The annual Governmental Affairs Conference of the Business Council of Alabama focused on infrastructure as a "central element to Alabama’s success in the 21st Century." Alabama's federal lawmakers connect infrastructure as key to economic growth at BCA conference - Yellowhammer News
I think Alabamians should be better informed about infrastructure as a "central element to Alabama’s success in the 21st Century", I particularly think Alabamians should be better informed about the sources of funding (Federal and local) for Alabama infrastructure and about the relationship between all infrastructure funding nationally (of which Alabama funding is a part) and the inflation that is a top issue in the 2024 election, so that Alabamians can more intelligently cast their votes in the 2024 election.
In June I wrote the below email to Alabama economics professors soliciting their involvement and the involvement of Alabama TV stations to better inform Alabamians about the economy and inflation.
This email is to solicit the involvement of the BCA in the foregoing objective.
Please let me know if the BCA is willing to participate so that Alabama voters may more intelligently cast their votes in the 2024 election.
Thank you.

Subject: Alabama economics professors and civic responsibility
Dear UAB Collat School of Business Dean Shook; UA Culverhouse College of Business Dean Palan; Auburn University Economics Department Chair Ziebarth; Samford University Department of Economics, Finance, and Quantitative Analysis, Chair Jones; and University of Montevallo Stephens College of Business Interim Chair Garrity:
This email is in follow up to my April 25th email to you, which email bears the subject line "Alabama economics professors and civic responsibility," and which email can be found at Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Getting AL TV stations to do better in 2024 elections (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
Here is my proposal development.
Take the inflation issue. I propose the drafting of a one page statement for TV stations to present to their viewers that sets out the causes of the inflation shown on Current US Inflation Rates: 2000-2024; positive and negative effects on the economy and otherwise accompanying the inflation; governmental action at this time that may reduce the inflation; and positive and negative effects on the economy and otherwise that may result from the governmental action.
The purpose of the statement would be to help Alabama voters better understand the inflation issue. Before being used, the statement would be circulated to Alabama's members of Congress for their views about how well the statement serves its purpose.
After the statement is finalized, participating Alabama TV stations would read the statement on one or more news shows and post the statement on their websites.
The foregoing idea is subject to any suggestions for any ways for the TV stations to better help their viewers understand the inflation issue.
Please let me know if there is an economics professor in your department who is willing to participate in this proposal.
I am copying TV stations on this email and will contact them to find out whether there are TV stations that are willing to participate.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Dear Professor Walker,
Thank you very much for getting back to me.
The extensive amount of emails may have led to confusion. I am only Citizen Shattuck and not a Chief Shattuck.
We are agreed that, as you say, "Gun control . . . is difficult to address because of politics."
I would link the intractability of the politics of gun control to America's unique national culture of guns and love of guns. From that, I contend that gun violence will not get reduced until there is a change in America's culture of guns and love of guns, and such cultural change leads to an overcoming of the intractability of the politics of gun control.
In proceeding with you, first I am interested in the extent to which you agree with what I am arguing for in the emails I have sent and that appear below. To the extent you and me talking will help determine how much you agree with what I am arguing for, please let's talk (205-967-5586).
Depending on the extent to which you agree with what I am arguing for, I would next like to suggest presenting our thoughts to the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama.
This could be in the form of your forwarding our email correspondence to the Board, accompanied by such introductory commentary as you would care to make to the Board.
Alternatively, I would be very amenable to our making a presentation to the Board at a Board meeting physically in person or via Zoom.
Maybe you have some other ideas for how to push this forward (assuming you share my desire to push this forward).
Just let me know.
Again, thanks so very much for your getting back to me on this.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: I believe stricter gun laws are critical for reducing gun violence
You don't often get email from rdshatt@aol.com. Learn why this is important
Dear Police Chief Wood,
I am writing this email to you by reason of your becoming the new President of the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police.
In July I wrote the below email to Sheriff Huey 'Hoss' Mack, who has become the new executive director of the Alabama Sherrif's Association.
In that email, I said:
I contend that (i) stricter gun laws are an imperative for reducing gun violence in Alabama, (ii) Alabama Republicans are opposed to reducing gun violence in Alabama through stricter gun laws, and (iii) the Republicans' reasons for opposing stricter gun laws may be that they do not believe stricter gun laws will reduce gun violence; or that stricter gun laws impair the capacity of citizens to defend themselves against tyrannical government; or that opposing stricter gun laws is part and parcel of the Republicans fighting the culture war.
I believe Alabamians should reject the reasons Alabama Republicans have for opposing stricter gun laws and Alabamians should rise up against the Alabama Republicans who are harming the health and welfare of Alabamians through the Republicans' control of the Alabama legislature and refusal to pass stricter gun laws.
I think Alabama sheriff's offices and police departments should not be cowed by politics and they should point fingers publicly at the Republicans in Montgomery who are opposed to stricter gun laws for reducing gun violence in Alabama. This will be supportive of Alabamians rising up against the Alabama Republicans in Montgomery who are harming the health and welfare of Alabamians.I have sought an appointment with UAB Department of Criminal Justice Professor Jeffrey Walker, who is on the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama, to discuss my above views with him. I will let you and Sheriff Mack know what I learn from Professor Walker.
Thank you for reading this email.

Subject: Your new role as Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriffs Association
Dear Sheriff Mack:
This email is prompted by Rep. Ensler's July 8th post on X announcing your new role as Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriffs Association, and saying, "Together, we can work at the state legislature towards enhancing community safety for all and saving lives." https://x.com/EnslerPhillip/status/1810304011934851544
Donald Watkins, in a July 5th post on Facebook, set forth ten crime-fighting measures for the City of Birmingham to aggressively implement. Birmingham Can Retake Control of City Streets from Drug Dealers and Gang Members by Implementing this Crime-Fighting Plan (donaldwatkins.com).
A comment Donald put on his Facebook post said:
Last Friday, Mayor Woodfin suggested that violent criminals must police themselves by walking away from conflicts that lead to deadly violence. Several media pundits have suggested the implementation of new social programs that are aimed at reducing poverty. Some have advocated for more gun control laws. None of these people has pushed for a return to effective policing with a fully staffed 900-member police department.
I urge you (and all of the persons copied on this email) to review Donald Watkins' suggested crime-fighting measures; think about the feasibility of the measures, their cost and their possible effectiveness; and decide whether you (and they) wish to try to push for the City of Birmingham (and possibly other Alabama cities) to implement some or all of the measures.
I wish to focus on measure 1 ('1. Declare war on violent crimes within the city and mean it. Put the city’s money on the front-line of the fight against violent crime.") and the above quoted comment that says, "Some have advocated for more gun control laws."
I sent the below July 8th email to Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed's office, to the Montgomery City Council and to other persons, concerning the City of Montgomery's publicized spike in violent crime. In the email, I say:
This will be supportive of Alabamians rising up against the Alabama Republicans in Motgomery who are harming the health and welfare of Alabamians.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: Guns and Montgomery crime wave
Montgomery's spike in violent crime caught statewide attention the past couple of weeks.
Capitol Journal a week ago Friday interviewed Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham and Montgomery D.A. Daryl Bailey, Capitol Journal on X: "We have a great line up in store Tonight on Capitol Journal. Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham, Montgomery D.A. Daryl Bailey, Alabama Dept. of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington, and Dr. Scott Harris of the Alabama Department of Public Health. Tonight at 7:30 on https://t.co/UTupaaGI6E" / X
On The V, the V team discussed Alabama gun deaths. Alabama Political Reporter on X: "This week on The V the team discusses AMCC’s legal delays, Dems review session, Reggie Jackson’s remarks, AL gun deaths, and LA’s Ten Commandments. All this and much more coming up next on The V. https://t.co/1jF1P0GenH" / X
1819 News published Montgomery County DA Daryl Bailey blames parents, legislature, judicial backlog for Capitol City's crime wave (1819news.com).
This past Tuesday the City of Birmingham's gun violence problem got highlighted per Mayor Woodfin gives himself, Birmingham 'a bad grade' on gun violence, crime (1819news.com).
Alabama police departments and sheriff's offices and Alabama city councils and county commissions should aid Alabamians in rising up against the Alabama Republicans in control of the Alabama legislature by such police departments, sheriff's offices, city councils and county commissions, as loudly and publicly as they can, calling on, demanding, and begging, the Alabama legislature for stricter gun laws. "Saving democracy"

Per Harris For Alabama: Purpose; methods (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com), this blog entry gives links to work I have previously done related to "saving democracy." My work is for consideration by other Alabamians possibly to do similarly in their campaigning for Kamala Harris, to make suggestions to me, and/or to come up with their own ideas for campaigning for Kamala Harris related to "saving democracy."

My work related to "saving democracy" matter includes the following:

I have been trying to get history professors in Alabama to speak up about Hitler and Trump, per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Similarities and differences between Hitler and Trump (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).

I have been trying to get the Alabama law profession to speak to Alabamians about the rule of law. See Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Interim Alabama report to ABA Task Force for American Democracy (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).

I have been trying to get Secretary of State Wes Allen to work with his fellow secretaries of state, Republican and Democratic, to engender a national political situation in which the results of the 2024 election will be accepted by the candidates and the voters. Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: So, here we Alabamians are in the 2024 elections (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).

I have been trying to get Alabama TV stations to do a better in their coverage of the 2024 elections.  Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Getting AL TV stations to do better in 2024 elections (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com). This would extend to the "saving democracy" matter.

Protest of Harris for Alabama FB removing my comments

A couple of days ago the administrators of the Harris for Alabama | Facebook removed three comments of mine. I requested a phone conversation to discuss the objections that the administrators had to my comments that were removed. The administrators declined to afford me a phone conversation to discuss the objections they had to my comments. I am drafting a protest, which I am posting here.

The "About" of Harris for Alabama | Facebook says:

Welcome to Harris for Alabama. We are an official group of the Joe Biden campaign whose purpose is to:
1. Bring together Kamala’s supporters in Alabama to create a community of supporters who can encourage activism and volunteer efforts in the campaign
2. Serve as a point of interaction between supporters and campaign staff
3. Be a source of information about the Vice President & her campaign that supporters can share to their wider networks.
As an official group of the campaign, it is crucial that we embody his vision of restoring dignity and respect. This begins with what we post and how we personally interact here.

I created Harris For Alabama (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com). I say at Harris For Alabama: Purpose; getting started (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com) this:

The purpose of this is to be a tool for Alabamians to campaign for Kamala Harris.
There is currently a Facebook page Harris for Alabama | Facebook.
It seems reasonable for Alabamians campaigning for Kamala Harris to have additional social media platforms and tools for doing their campaigning.
This "blog" is amateurish as an additional social media tool for Alabamians to campaign for Kamala Harris.

On Harris for Alabama | Facebook I have been trying to solicit the views of other members of the group of what they thought about additional social media platforms and tools for campaigning for Kamala Harris. I did this by making individualized comments on posts made by other members of the group, which individualized comments included links to Harris For Alabama: Purpose; getting started (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com).

I am attempting individualized interaction with other members of the group in the community of supporters as legitimately seeks to encourage activism and volunteer efforts in the campaign. Not all members of the group see individualized comments by me to another member of the group, and I don't think my efforts at individualized comments to members of the group should be disallowed.

7/28/2024
Yesterday I requested the Facebook administrators to read this protest. After making that request, I was removed from Harris for Alabama | Facebook by the administrators of the group. I wish to understand the objectionableness of what I have done.

Purpose; methods

The purpose of this is to be a tool for Alabamians to campaign for Kamala Harris.

There is a big national campaign for Kamala Harris, and Kamala Harris will set the tone, themes, and objectives of that campaign.

No one thinks that Kamala Harris can win in Alabama, and that should affect the campaigning that Alabamians do for Kamala Harris or in tandem with Kamala Harris' campaigning.

Kamala Harris' campaign issues will bring enormous public attention to those issues and Alabamians can avail of that public attention to push on them in Alabama, such as regarding reproductive rights and guns.

Alabamians for Kamala Harris should also be for Shomari Figures and against Caroleene Dobson in the 2nd Congressional district, and Alabamians can beneficially do campaigning for Figures.

There is currently a Facebook page Harris for Alabama | Facebook which Alabamians can join and use to do campaigning for Kamala Harris.

This "blog" is intended to help provide additional social media platforms and tools for Alabamians campaigning for Kamala Harri

This "blog" is amateurish as an additional social media tool for Alabamians to campaign for Kamala Harris. (This "blog" was originally started in 2020 for Biden/Harris/Jones, and for the time being "blog" entries from 2020 remain.) Other Alabamians with website design knowledge and capability are solicited to create a professional looking Harris for Alabama website to be used, as will allow this "blog" to be discontinued.

A Harris for Alabama "X" account would seem desirable.

Other Alabamians may think there should be Instagram, TikTok and other social media platform accounts for Harris for Alabama to be created and used and might proceed to create those accounts.

#HarrisforAlabama seems an appropriate hashtag.

Campaigning regarding particular issues and matters

I have previously done a lot of work regarding issues and matters involved in the Presidential election and that can potentially built on by others or inspire others to come up with their own ideas about campaigning regarding the same.

I will make separate blog entries for these issues and matters, where I will link the work I have done and post any ideas or contributions that others wish to make.

For "saving democracy" matter, go to Harris For Alabama: "Saving democracy" (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com).

For stricter gun laws matter, go to Harris For Alabama: Stricter gun laws (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com).

For campaigning re battleground states, go to Harris For Alabama: Campaigning re battleground states (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com).

For matter of Christian Nationalism, go to Harris For Alabama: Christian nationalism (al4bidenharrisjones.blogspot.com).

Dear H.I.V.E. Alabama,
I have reviewed all your posts at HIVE Alabama | Huddle. Inquire. Validate. Enact, going back to your March 2017 start.
I would say that, in the life of your organization, there has never been a more important 80 days for what your organization says and does than the remaining 80 days until the November 5, 2024, election day.
I would like to call to your attention the American Bar Association Task Force for American Democracy and its August 2, 2024, report posted at Task Force for American Democracy (americanbar.org).
The report places a lot of emphasis on taking steps to ensure the democratic carrying out of our elections, and your “Trust the Vote” Zoom event on Tuesday, August 27th, seems excellently in this vein.
If you are willing, I would like to discuss with you other activities H.I.V.E. Alabama might undertake between now and election day. Please email me or call me at 205-967-5586 if we might meet or at least have a phone conversation.
Thank you.
